GPRA Thanksgiving Match 2015

November 1, 2015

Dear Friends of Great Pyrenees Rescue Atlanta,
I am so proud to say we are approaching GPRA's sixth year and amazingly, we are on track to rescue over 1,000 Great Pyrenees by year's end.  I continue to marvel at the incredible joy, passion and hard work of our volunteers, sponsors, board members and network of friends and supporters in helping save so many of these Gentle Giants.  Last year, we were privileged to have rescued 151 Great Pyrs.  Through October of this year, we have already rescued another 167, and we are on track to rescue a record 200 or more for 2015.

Most importantly, we are now taking in a record number of heartworm positive Pyrs AND Pyrs requiring major surgery - like our recent Pyr rescues Gunner and Nellie.  Rescues like Gunner and Nellie typically require $3000-5000 or more in orthopedic surgery bills to repair shattered legs and worse from automobile accidents - something we are proud to pay - but as you can imagine, we need your support to help sustain our efforts and cover these, for us, staggering medical costs that amount to more than $200,000 this year.

Really, really, good news - this year we have found a generous anonymous donor willing to MATCH every dollar donated by you between now and Thanksgiving Day.  Remarkably, this is a Gentle Giant opportunity to DOUBLE dollars we can use to help cover our substantial veterinary costs that average more than $1200 per Pyr we rescue. Whether it's $10 or $1,000 or more, please help us this year as you did last year by donating this November to save our wonderful Pyrs and help them to live well deserved, long and wonderful lives.  Their families thank you, and we thank you.

GPRA is an all-volunteer 501c3 charitable organization and your donations are, of course, 100 percent tax deductible.  And absolutely every dollar you donate goes to helping our Great Pyrs.

Also, while I am on my soap box and as you can imagine, we always need more fosters, so please let us know if you can help foster a Pyr for a few weeks or longer to help us find them a forever home.  I cannot say how important this is in helping us rescue as many Great Pyrenees as we can.

Thank you,

John Heldrich, Founder and President of GPRA
