Thelma and Louise - new 2/5
We are Thelma and Louise and just like the movie, we've been cruising the highways, and like our namesakes we are running from trouble and pain, but unlike the movie, our story will have a happy ending. We are young, and healthy, but don't have much more information to share yet! Stay tuned...yes, we'll get a bath!!!
Thelma - new 2/5
I am Thelma, I've been hanging out with my friend Louise. We're friendly and were found wandering the highways...no car....we can't drive!
Louise - new 2/5
I am Louise, a young Female Great Pyr found out on the run with Thelma - we just arrived on 2/4 so stayed tuned to see how our story here starts!
Bo - new 2/5
My new name is Bo and I am about 2 years old, I am a male about 110 pounds and I think I am really cute and cuddly and friendly! I wandered up to a lady's house where there was a white dog who looked just like me, maybe a bit older, and she took me somewhere she hoped I would be safe. I am in need of a bath and shots and then I'll be all set to go!
Kota - new 2/5
My name is Kota and I don't have much to say except "Thank you for getting me out of the shelter!" I am a fairly young male and am looking for a new home - stay tuned for an update!
Ozzy - adopted 2/4
My name is Ozzy and I am about 1 year old. I've arrived from Alabama with a neck wound and probably a congenital condition where the cartilidge between my joints in my front leg is not quite right - it's known as Osteochrondritis Dissecans or OCD - yes you can google it, I would if I had thumbs! The good people at this rescue are going to look into what can be done to help me. In the meantime it's important for you to know that I am sweet and docile - great with other dogs and kids, and I am tall aren't I! I weigh about 95 pounds and am currently interviewing for new homes!!
Spirit - new 1/31
My name is Spirit, and as my name indicates I do have a lot of spirit. I am a 2 year old male who requires a strong leader, a home where there is little that changes. I am a "live by the rules" guy and if you tell me the rules and don't change my game, I am good. I am good with other dogs, sometimes I have issues with cats, and I am good with kids.
Estrella- new 1/25
Hi, my name is Estrella and I am Luna's pup - well I am not really a pup anymore - I am about 3 years old. I am spayed and I've been a livestock guardian dog so if you need a dog to do a job - I might just be your girl!
Luna - adopted 2/4
My name is Luna and I am about 4 years old. I come from TN and I have been a Livestock Guardian dog. I also became pregnant when I was only 6 months old and Estrella is my only surviving pup! She came in with me - I am the more dominant of the two. We are both sweet and smart and ready for a new home!
Bandit - new 1/25
Hi Atlanta! My name is Bandit and I was found by a kind lady in Atlanta with no tag, no collar, no microchip - so off I went to the vet where they found a really yicky ear infection and worse - heartworm positive - but don't you worry, this nice group is going to make sure I get the medications I need to get healthy. They think I am about 5 years old!
Flossy- adopted 2/5
Hi, my name is Flossie and I am a bit shy. I've had one of those long days, came in from Alabama right to the vet! I am about 18 months old, around 70 pounds and very happy to be alive. Looking for a home is my next task in life.
Iowa - new 1/22
Hi! Is this 1980’s style awesome or what?! It’s only temporary until my beautiful GP coat grows back but for now, I’m a real-life version of that song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” I know I look funny but I feel so much better without all those mats and bugs and tar and gunk all over me. In fact, this new cut has released my inner puppy! And just like the politicians in all these primaries, I’m not sure what is fact or fiction about my missing tail, or my age. But, and this is no campaign promise, I’m happy, loving, loyal, playful, and always ready for a hug. I’m probably 2-4 yrs old and sometimes I get scared about my missing tail but my foster family is helping me with that. I’m ok either way with cats but I vote for a new home with dogs or kids to play with, a cozy bed, toys, and all kinds of food to fill my belly!
Carolina - new 1/22
My name is Carolina and I am an 8 year old female who was turned into the shelter by my owner when they moved. I can't really understand why my owner would decide that moving and taking a dog isn't acceptable but I guess that I don't want to live with someone who really didn't want me....know what I mean...I believe there must be something better out there for me. I am sweet and loving and really no trouble whatsoever, won't you be my new hope in life?
Hampshire - new 1/22
Hi, My name is Hampshire and I am a young male stuck behind these terrible bars. I committed no crime but have been wandering on my own for 7 weeks or so and was finally brought inside to this shelter. I am getting a ride to the wonderful people of Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta this week and I am looking forward to my release. I will ask for a new photo as soon as I land in my new location!
Vienna - adopted 2/4
Hi, my name is Vienna and I am a two year old owner turn in. I am attending school right now to learn socialization skills. I need a strong leader who will give me a job that will keep me emotionally secure and I need to be in a home with no children. I am smart and sweet but don't want to be in charge anymore!
Ace - updated 1/21
My name is Ace because I am one very cool dude. I am about 4 years old, I get along with other dogs, I crate well and I am really smart. I have just come in from an Alabama shelter - so sorry I can't tell you my story....its pretty much a blur but all that matters now is my bright happy future.
Magic - new 1/8
Hi, my name is Magic and I am a 3 year old calm and slightly timid female Great Pyrenees. am underweight and Heartworm positive - I will be treated as soon as I gain enough weight to make the treatment safe for me! Here I am going for a ride in the car! Its like Magic I was rescued!
Frosty - adoption pending 2/4
Hi, my name is Frosty and here you can can see my beautiful blue eyes! I am a young female Great Pyr mix that was rescued from an Alabama shelter. Like many young dogs I love to play. I am friendly with other dogs and am not the dominant dog in my foster home - I leave that to the smaller dogs, as I have better things to do - like follow the people around and sleep in their bedrooms and play with the other dogs.
Hank - new 1/4
Hi, I am Hank and am 2 years old. I am looking for a good farm to tend, a leader to show me the ropes and a full time job. I work for love, food and shelter. No other payment required! Pretty good deal isn't it! I am available now - and references are gladly provided!
Louie - updated 1/4
Hi, my name is Louie and I am about 2 years old. You may have seen me before as I have been adopted and returned. I've just spent some quality time at USCanine.com, the dog whisperer of Georgia. She and I had a good time communicating and here is what I need: a farm where I can have a job, structure and very strong leadership from all humans. You see, I am a Great Pyrenees who does not want or need to be a house-dog where I am pampered like those goofy poodles with funny hair cuts. Now that I know what I want, when can we meet?
Nick - new 12/31
Hi my name is Nick and I have travelled from Alabama. I am young and too small for my age - at only 68 pounds I need some really good home cooked food! I am playful and happy and have recently recovered from a skin condition - which is why my coat is short! I am looking for my new family and I think you might be them!
Dolly - adopted 2/4
My name is Dolly and I am about 2 years old. Some of my favorite things are to ride in the car and hang outside! I need to be in a home with a fence as I do like to explore if given the opportunity, and as I am an alpha dog, I need a leader person and a non-alpha playmate!
Nora - adopted 2/4
Hi, my name is Nora and I am a female Great Pyrenees about 2 years old, and as you can see I am all dressed up and ready to go home for the holidays. This photo was taken the other day when I had an appointment to speak with Santa's elves about what I needed to do to stay on Santa's "good list" to ensure I got a new home...they told me that I was a good girl and assured me that I have done nothing wrong to end up temporarily homeless. Please bring me home...I may bark as those reindeer land on the roof - but I am just doing my job!! I am not overly fond of little dogs so I would be best with large dogs
Coco - updated 1/4
My name is Coco and I am a young female Great Pyrenees who was pulled from a Georgia shelter in early December - let me tell you that was a scary place, but here I am today, looking a little sleepy - why? Its because I am relaxed, I know I am safe. I am looking for my permanent home now. I've heard there are lots of great people out there who want to help us homeless pets! Please come get me!
Sheba - adopted 2/4
Hi, my name is Sheba and I am about 1 year young. I was brought in from a shelter and as you can see I am really a bit on the skinny side. I am hoping to find a home where they are already busy baking cookies for Santa Claus :) I am really sweet, incredibly affectionate and I do ride in the car well. I promise to be good if you'll bring me home!!
Syd - adoption pending 2/4
My name is Syd and I am about 9 months old - I was one of the "rock star" mixed pups brought into GRPA about 5 months ago and I need a new home. My other name is Ghost. I am good with other dogs and I am very smart and will learn new talents in exchange for cookies! I will tell you two things I do not like - squirrels and that vacuum cleaner, but other than that I am a very happy guy!
Roxy - updated 11/30
Hi my name is Roxy and I am a senior girl (9 years old) with a lot of spunk left. I like cats and other dogs, but I really like my retirement years and am looking for a very quiet home for the holidays...and for the rest of my life. I am housebroken and very affectionate with my people!
Sophie and Sebastian - adopted 2/4
We are Sophie and Sebastian, 3 and 4 years old respectively. We had a lovely family with small kids who we adored but due to a relocation of our family, they've decided that the best thing for us would be a new home - much like our old home where there was lots of room for us to play. We are housebroken and we would really like to stay together if we could...
Nala - available 1/10
Hi, I'm Nala! If you're looking for a Great Pyr personality in a smaller body, I'm your girl! I'm two years old and I only weigh about 50lbs. I'm laid-back but playful, great with other dogs and cats, and very gentle with people! I am silly and sweet and love to sunbathe on a big rock in my foster mom's backyard with all the other dogs looking on... I do have some itchy skin as I was a bit neglected when I was rescued from the shelter... But it's getting better - I just need a high-quality, grain-free diet to keep my skin looking beautiful! I'm also housebroken. Please come to adoptions and meet me- you won't be disappointed!
Daisy - adoption pending 2/4
I am a little Daisy - a 6 month stray husky/GP mix - found on an Alabama dirt road looking for food. I've had a rough beginning, but am now up to 33lbs and will be a good sized adult. I am high energy. I love to play and would be great for the active family. I love everyone and enjoy giving kisses, I also like other dogs as you can see here I am chatting with my buddies! I am also good with cats and almost have all my house manners down!
